Tree Trails

Our Tree Trails map out trees along parks and walking routes across the city. Each trail is developed in collaboration with local Friends of Parks groups, before being brought to life by an artist who creates an illustrated map of the route.

These tree trails have been created by local friends of the parks groups for the respective green spaces in the community. We've plotted these original trails using our TreePlotter software so you click through to find out more details. As part of the University of Birmingham's 125th anniversary event we compiled seven of these trails into an A6 booklet with species list and easy to use illustrated maps which you can download below. WARD END PARK, Ward End

HIGHBURY PARK, Moseley (short route)

This is the shorter of the two Highbury Park routes. Start at the Eastern edge of the park and follow this single pathway with 11 trees. Click here for the TreePlotter map and visitthe Highbury Park friends' page for more information about the park.

HIGHBURY PARK, Moseley (long route)

This is the longer of the two Highbury Park routes which were devised by the Friends of Highbury Park group. Again, it begins at the eastern edge of the park, but takes in a lot more of the space with more trees too. some you'll need to work hard to find. CANNON HILL PARK, Moseley

This route was originally created by the Cannon Hill Friends' group in partnership with Birmingham Trees for Life. LEY HILL RECREATION GROUND, Edgbaston

BURBURY PARK, Newtown

Welcome to The Zephaniah Forest's Poetree Trail! There are 65 trees and 65 poems, dedicated to the 65 years of Benjamin Zephaniah's life. The trees were planted in 2024-2025. The walk is approximately 500 steps over flat ground with pathways.

There is no particular order to take the trail, but this is the suggested beginning, following roughly the planting of the trees from the first one by Qian Zephaniah, to the last ones with her and Benjamin's siblings with the Benjamin Zephaniah Family Legacy Group. Farm Street is one of the places where Benjamin used to live with his family in Birmingham.
